HARVEST CAN BEGIN IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF PALILULA

Palilula Municipality of Niš, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the City of Nis, in collaboration with members of the Emergency Situations Ministry and the Traffic Police, the Council of the citizens, and the combiners from the territory of Palilula, organized in Nis Cultural Center an operating agreement regarding the upcoming harvest of small grains 2014.

About this agricultural activity spoke Ljubisa Stojanovic, deputy head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the City of Nis, Ivan Petković, Associate Board and coordinator of this year's harvest and Boban Džunić, president of Municipality of Palilula.

There are15 villages that rely on narrow city areain the territory of Municipality of Palilula. "Strategic Development Plan" of the municipality until 2016, as the primary task lists "revival" of the village, from which is expected to be the basis of sustainable development of our community in the future. Therefore it is very important that this year's harvest is well done with minimum loss of grains (less than 5%), to yield high-quality store -emphasized President Boban Džunić. The total acreage of Palilula is about 7,377 ha. From that 5.413ha are arable land and vegetable gardens (cereals, industrial crops, vegetable crops, fodder). The stubble grain (wheat, barley, rye and oats) in Palilula covers 1,375 hectares.

In the opinion of agricultural experts, the harvest in the City of Nis may begin this week with the first crops of barley and then the wheat fields. It is estimated that this year's yield will be at the level of the previous year, about 3,500 kg per hectare. In the City of Nis, this year in the structure of sowing wheat planted about 6,500 hectares of crops of wheat, about 2.500ha barley, triticale and about 500ha of oats. The aim of the meeting that was organized by Municipality of Palilula, in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said Boban Džunić, is the assistance and adequate support to farmers about the conditions and methods of performing the harvest in 2014. At this meeting it was agreed that in order to make better organization of harvest, there should be signing of the protocol on the cooperation with farmers, combiners and representatives of the Citizens Council and the Department of Agriculture.
